Slim's

After passing by and saying, 'I'm so going there this weekend!' for weeks, I finally went into the nook-and-crany restaurant called Slim's in Wanchai.
Decked out in pre/post 90s posters, there's something to see everywhere you look.

Instagram of the (past few) Week(s)

Despite the dry spell on this blog, my Instagram has been going stronger than ever! Here are some of the highlights from the last few months-

Nothing like starting the morning with a bit of fashion and a cappuccino.
Because an amazing hamburger deserves two hands. Step aside fork, knife, and femininity.
Hiking day with the pops.
HK makes my heart all warm and fuzzy (I found this little gem on the sidewalk...it's gas for the stores on the block!)

A Few Words

Found on Google
I must admit that I'm not one to voluntarily go on camping trips...but I am one who likes going into nature every once in a while to take a deep breath of pure oxygen and clear my head for a bit. Ever since I moved to Hong Kong, it seems like my life has been lived between tall glass buildings and honking cabbies, sidewalk food stands and bustling pedestrians. And through it all, I've noticed how easy it is to fall into a pattern where you just go, go, go and work, work, work and before you know it, a whole week has passed by. Then, an entire month goes by, and then before you know it a whole year has gone right past you.

So in order to separate myself from the daily chaos, I dedicate a time to clear my mind and take it to a place of quiet and beauty. A place and infused with the smell of pine needles. A place rich with greenery. And by doing this, going on a camping trip has become more and more appealing. And when I say camping, I mean "insects-eat-me-alive, lets-pitch-a-tent, and s'mores" kind of nature. So K and I have decided to go on a little weekend getaway to clear our heads and just enjoy the company of each other and Mother Nature. There's this far-out little beach on one of the outlying islands that is supposedly a gem and (better for us) one that not many people know about. It's also known to have pretty decent waves so I'll be able staycation and be taken back to my California happy place: atop my surfboard.

I forgot how much of a little oasis this blog is amidst my daily life here in the busy city. And I know that not that many people read this blog - and in a way I'm happy about that because I can truly express how I'm feeling - but for my 2 or 3 fans out there, I hope that you can discover some little space in your daily life that you can spend some time in peace. But more importantly(and I quote my all-time favorite movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off), I hope you notice that life moves pretty fast, and if you don't stop and look around every once in a while, you could miss it. So if you're like me and can tolerate a few itchy bumps and a day or so's worth of dirty fingernails, go out into nature and appreciate the beauty that has inspired so many and become one who's been inspired. Maybe one day, I'll meet you on Mother Nature's front door.
