Clockenflap 2012

Once a year, all of the Hong Kong hipsters get together to celebrate all things good in the world: food, booze, and amazing music. Clockenflap, a weekend music festival, allows even the most sheltered individuals to come out to experience and enjoy amazing bands. We're talking artists like Primal Scream, Azealia Banks and more.

Starting the morning off early, we headed over to the Kowloon Cultural District for some bass-blasting, chest vibrating, ear-to-ear smiling songs from some of our favorite artists.
As you can tell, we were the few true music junkies there that early in the morning - but oh so worth it! Hungry Ghosts is for sure a new favorite band.
Besides the wide open space, the Kowloon Cultural Center is such a perfect setting for a music festival like this. We danced and shimmied our way along the waterfront, drinks and cameras in hand, and were able to see the day evolve with the magnificent Hong Kong skyline as a backdrop. What more could a hipster ask for?

A Quicky on Digital Philanthropy

If you have a decent vocabulary and can spare 5-10 minutes you MUST check out freerice.com! It's a digital philanthropy site and I'm diggin' it. For every vocab question you get right, 10 grains of rice will go to the World Food Programme in an attempt to end world hunger. I don't know about you, but this seems like an awesome way to procrastinate - we're keeping our minds active via a quiz and we're helping end world hunger! That sound a bit naive as I'm sure there's much, much more to it than that - but for pleasure's sake, I'm going to say that this is the best site I've discovered lately...and hopefully it will be the same for you! So head on over and get your vocab on.

Last Day in Chiang Mai

As our vacation was coming to a close, we dedicated our last day to temple touring. Home to over 300, we got a very clear picture of Buddhism's importance in Thailand.

As we said farewell to the sunshine, we headed back to the hotel and got ready for a night on the town.

A nice souvenir....
Massage party
All in all, it was a trip of a lifetime. Thailand, you've treated us like royalty.

Chiang Mai, Thailand: Day Two

After an eventful first day in Chaing Mai, the whole family decided to kick it up a noch by going on an all day tour.
First stop was river rafting on traditional bamboo rafts.

Yeah, we're pretty cute ;)

Once at the bottom, we got off and were hustled over to our next mode of transport - ox-carts.

After getting off and getting lunch, we then ventured back to the Maetaman Elephan Camp to ride elephants.

Elephants are hands down my favorite animal so this opportunity was one I've been dreaming of since I got my first stuffed animal elephant! But we couldn't stay on forever, so we were then shuttled off to Tiger Kingdom where I was able to play with baby tigers with L.
On our way back, we stopped by a local village of the Long Neck and Big Ear tribes.
Truly a magical day!
