Anyway ask away!

An American in China V7: Pouring Rain!

Typical. As I've lived here for almost a year, I can say the HK weather is incredibly bipolar. One minute it's beautiful and sunny and then next is raining cats and dogs!

An American in China V4: Time Square HK Version

Time Square, located in Causeway Bay, is a popular location to do some shopping and a lot of eating! Dim sum is a personal favorite here in China and CWB's Crystal Jade located inside the mall has some of the best. On the cheaper end, there are egg balls (waffles that are round instead of square) as well as boba (which they call bubble) tea. I'll do an updated video soon!

An American in China V3: MTR Ride

So you've met my mom, and now you'll meet my pops! Its just the three of us in my little family but we get along really well and always have a good time. Like I said before, these videos are a tad old but my newer ones will most likely be just of myself or with friends.

An American in China V2: Airplane Claustrophobia?

I cannot express how little leg room there was and to have to sit in such a small space for 13 hours was quite a task. In the end though we slept for a total of 10 hours (thank goodness for red eye flights) so we only had to stand the leg cramps and numb back sides for 3 hours. All in all though it was quite a relaxing flight with a wonderful crew. Cathay Pacific airline is definitely recommended!

An American in China V1: LAX Lovin'

So ever since I moved to Hong Kong, I've been making little videos to update my friends and family back home about what life is like on the other side of the globe. I thought it would be fun to post them here for all of you wonderful viewers to see as well :) I'll post all of them one post at a time so I can include a short description about what's going on and I'll be sure to update you fairly frequently. I haven't posted in a while so these videos are about a year old but nevertheless, they work!

*As I am an only child, my mother and I are extremely close. She pops up in these videos quite often so you'll be experiencing her Latina spice throughout these videos.

Love always,
Shugs

China Goods

Everyone knows that a majority of products made in the world were made in China. I am lucky enough to live at China's manufacturing industry's doorstep and am able to get all the designer (and high quality knock off) brands at a fraction of the cost. I'm also able to turn my fashion sketches into reality. With that being said, I have decided to start a business in which people request certain goods from China and I go on the hunt for them as well as selling them to you for a fraction of the cost!
Here are a few little things I have bought in China:
  • Marc Jacob bags
  • True Religion jeans
  • Longchamp bags
  • TOMS
  • Dr. Dre beats
  • Alexander McQueen clutches
  • iPhone cases
Really, the list is endless of the kinds of things I find in China but those are the buys I'm most proud of.  I've had friends buy knock off (but identical looking) bags from Prada, Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Mulberry, and others. I'll be posting photos of my buys later but in the meantime, if you're interested in getting some major steals, leave a comment below. I will ship to anywhere in the world (with the S&H charges included in the final price) so don't be shy and ask away! Also, if you'd want your fashion ideas to go from dreams to reality, email them to me with a list of characteristics (accessories, fabric type, colors, etc.) at suggie124@gmail.com

Instagrams of the Week

I'm a big Instagram fan and find myself taking loads of pictures and putting them through the insta-filter ringer to give them that 'indie fresh' look. So here a peak of my Instagrams of the Week
Coffee at the Sheraton (coincidence that my name starts with an S?)

Coffee at Starbucks on a rainy day...

Selfie to kill time...
My team and I at the 2012 Business Day at my school (which we won! :))

Business Day 2012

After putting on my fashion forward business outfit (pink/orange ballet flats, black denim pencil skirt, crisp white Faconnable blouse and H&M earrings), I headed off to school for the 2012 Business Day. My school's business and econ students were divided into 12 teams (2 extra teams from two different schools) in which each had a CEO (team leader). I was lucky enough to be chosen as CEO for Group 7 and paired with these fabulous business minds.

The competition was to design a marketing plan which would increase revenue for the KELY Organization (an NGO that provides services to drug and alcohol abusing teens to help put them back on track and assist them in pursuing their goals) which we had all day to do so.

Throughout the day, each team had the opportunity of getting $1000 donations (play money essentially) from the business men who wandered about giving advice and getting insight of each team's plan. In total, my team won with the highest amount of $57,000.

Happy Belated Mothers Day!

My mammasita and I on Mother's Day

I know I'm a little late, but I hope you all had a great Mother's Day over the weekend! Like I said, I'm not very good at taking photos and unfortunately this was the only one I was able to snap on Sunday. The quality isn't the best because it was shot on my iPhone and thrown through the Instagram ringer of filters so sorry about that!

Nice to Meet You

Hello to all of the people who have found my little blog! Its nice to meet you, I'm Samantha and I'm originally from California but currently living in Hong Kong. I love making others happy so if you like my blog please leave me comments (I always reply!). This blog will be dedicated to all of the things going on in my life but if you're interested in what else I have to say, I have another blog called Whimsdom that I talk everything from food to fashion and everything in between!

A few random facts about me:

  • I'm completely and utterly obsessed with music
  • I have a collection of about 25 different nail polishes
  • I will marry Ryan Gosling one day (even if it is in my dreams)
  • I love dogs
  • I have a schnauzer named Louis and a pug named Chubby
  • I'm a really bad social networker...keeping everyone informed of my every move via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, whatever, just isn't important to me
  • And my favorite flower is the daffodil

Love always,
Sam
